The Mudslingers is an all-volunteer organization, so we literally cannot produce our shows without volunteers!
While we encourage everyone to volunteer at shows — it’s fun to be part of the action — we require Mudslingers members to volunteer if they wish to be eligible for year-end awards. Each rider must volunteer two shifts (two half patterns or a whole pattern) per show to be eligible for Mudslingers year-end awards.
A family member may volunteer on behalf of a rider, though we encourage riders to participate in show set-up as much as possible as part of our club’s service ethic.
Volunteer positions at the shows are:
- Announcer
- Time writer
- Gate keeper
- Arena setter
- Grounds tidier
We’re happy to train you in these roles. Also, we have pre- and post-show volunteer assignments, including helping judges set up and take down patterns, setting up and removing delineators and raking and piling manure to keep the show grounds clean.
Note that since we are a non-profit, Mudslingers volunteer hours qualify as community service hours for high-school requirements. Our board members can sign off on community service hours documents.
Following is the volunteer sign-up sheet. We print this at 5 pm on the Friday before the show and we audit/update the printed list during the show based on who shows up for their volunteer shifts.
Below are volunteer standings for each rider.
- If you do not see your name on the list, it means we don’t have a record of you volunteering.
- If you feel we have missed an instance of you volunteering, please contact a board member or [email protected] so we can fix these records.
- We do not list riders related to board members or judges, as these individuals volunteer heavily and don’t need to be tracked.
